Title: *The Artist*
INT. HOUSE - DAY
A lit room. Lights are turned on.
CAMERA PANS with a ROBBER as she enters through the front door, only her FEET in sight. She steps slowly wearing cracked black boots.
CUT TO:
The ROBBER walks further inside. The CAMERA FOLLOWS her, PANNING from her feet up to her hands, revealing a gun. She moves forward, staying hidden behind a wall that separates the kitchen from the entrance.
CUT TO:
A MAN opens the fridge in the kitchen, pulling out a head of lettuce.
CUT TO:
The ROBBER'S head, shot from behind and slightly sideways, peers into a mirror on the opposite wall from which she hides behind. The mirror reflects her eyes, intense and focused, and the MAN in the kitchen looking down at the lettuce, cutting it. The MAN looks up, catching the ROBBER'S gaze in the reflection.
CUT TO:
Close-up on the ROBBER'S eyes, which widen in shock.
CUT TO:
The mirror now only reflects the MAN'S face. He looks puzzled, suspicious, sensing something.
CUT TO:
The MAN glances around, unsure, then ignores his suspicion and continues his task.
CUT TO:
The CAMERA PANS DOWN from the ceiling, revealing the ROBBER sitting on the ground, hidden behind a wall beneath the mirror, breathing heavily as she processes what just happened.
CUT TO:
The MAN, after a pause, exits the scene, still slightly unnerved.
CUT TO:
The ROBBER peeks cautiously from behind the wall, her eyes focused, checking the area.
CUT TO:
The MAN, now near the stove, turns to reach for something on the top shelves, his back turned.
CUT TO:
A far shot of the ROBBER, sitting and leaning against the wall. She turns her head and looks at the painting on the wall.
CUT TO:
A PAINTING on the wall. The CAMERA LINGERS on it, capturing its details.
CUT TO:
Side shot from where the ROBBER is sitting, showing a piece of her head as she looks at the painting. The CAMERA ZOOMS slightly.
CUT TO:
The CAMERA PANS across the PAINTING, reflecting her gaze.
CUT TO:
Looking straight ahead now, she checks her gun, taking a deep breath. She steels herself and moves forward.
CUT TO:
Action shot as the ROBBER stands up from behind the wall, moving hurried towards the kitchen.
CUT TO:
The ROBBER raises her gun to where the man is, breathing heavily as she steadies herself.
CUT TO:
The kitchen — empty, silent. The man is no longer there.
CUT TO:
Close-up on the ROBBER’S masked face as the man rises up behind her with a KNIFE pressed against her neck, holding her in place. She is startled.
CUT TO:
Medium shot. The ROBBER raises her hands, lowering the gun onto the kitchen table slowly, looking straight ahead. Then placing her hands back up
CUT TO:
Sideways shot of the MAN turning the ROBBER around, positioning her away from the kitchen counter and towards the mirror.
CUT TO:
The mirror reflects them both. The MAN stands behind the ROBBER, knife at her neck. She tilts her head towards the PAINTING. The MAN, bemused, mirrors her gaze.
CUT TO:
The PAINTING, hauntingly silent.
CUT TO:
The MAN returns his gaze to the ROBBER in the mirror, their reflections merging. He slowly moves his hands toward her mask, ready to pull it off.
CUT TO:
The ROBBER, her hand sliding subtly into her pocket, is slowly taking a knife out.
CUT TO:
In the mirror, the MAN pulls the mask off quickly.
CUT TO:
The ROBBER swiftly stabs the MAN in the leg.
CUT TO:
Medium shot of the MAN screaming in pain, the ROBBER shoving him backwards against the counter before darting away.
CUT TO:
Sideways shot as the ROBBER dashes behind the counter to hide.
CUT TO:
Front shot of the ROBBER hiding behind the counter, breathing heavily, eyes alert.
CUT TO:
The MAN sits on the opposite side of the counter, clutching his leg, his face twisted in pain.
CUT TO:
Sideways shot showing both the ROBBER and MAN on opposite sides of the counter, leaning against it.
CUT TO:
The ROBBER inhales deeply, steadying herself.
CUT TO:
The MAN takes a deep breathes as well, preparing himself.
CUT TO:
In an action shot, the ROBBER stands up quickly.
CUT TO:
Another action shot as the MAN forces himself up, facing the ROBBER.
CUT TO:
Sideways shot with both in view. The CAMERA ZOOMS in, building tension as they both rush towards the gun on the table, stopping as their hands touch each other.
